Planet Earth: Another Victim of the Tobacco Epidemic

Every step of the tobacco supply chain, from growing to consumption, is harmful to the environment. Tobacco farming is responsible for approximately 5% of global deforestation, 1.69 billion pounds of cigarette butts are discarded every year and cigarette filters break down in the oceans, releasing toxic chemicals.
