Generational endgame policies prohibit the sale of tobacco to anyone born after a certain date instead of anyone under a certain age. Eventually it would not be legal to sell tobacco to anyone living, creating “tobacco-free generations.” Studies have concluded that such policies may be an effective population-level deterrent to tobacco use.
